Echinodorus Soekarno is well loved for its striking red to deep burgundy leaves, which are often adorned with darker marbling or speckled patterns. Its rich colouration and bold leaf shape make it a focal point in the mid and or background in aquariums. This plant is easy to care for, and will reach its full potential with stable parameters and good root nutrition.

Care Requirements
Care Requirements
- Light: Provide Soekarno with moderate to high lighting to accentuate its red colouration.
- Water Parameters: Temperatures between 22 - 28 degrees celsius will suit Soekarno. Keep pH ideally between 6.5 - 7.5, but do not chase these values (stability is more important). Thrives in soft to moderately hard water.
- CO2 Needs: Optional but will improve growth and colouration.
Maintenance: Plant in nutritious substrate and or supplement with root tabs with the crown exposed to prevent rot. Prune outer or older leaves at the base to encourage compact new growth and stronger colour characteristic of newer leaves.

We think this plant is best positioned in the mid to background of your aquarium. Ensure it is not shaded by other plants as that would impact its growth and colouration.
Propagation
Propagation
Will produce adventitious plantlets when mature under good conditions. Allow plantlets to develop roots and 3-4 leaves before separating and replanting.

I purchased two Echinodorus varieties, Soekarno and Aflame, and I couldn’t be happier. The plants arrived promptly and were carefully packaged, with extra attention given to keeping the roots moist, something I really appreciated. Both specimens are very healthy and have acclimated beautifully to my tank.
